What is dry socket and how do I avoid it?

It’s more common with lower wisdom teeth extractions. To minimize the risk, avoid smoking, drinking through straws, and vigorous rinsing in the first 24 to 48 hours after extraction. If you develop significant pain starting three to five days after the procedure, contact us promptly.

Do I need a bone graft after every extraction?

Not necessarily, but a socket preservation bone graft placed immediately after extraction is often recommended if you plan to replace the tooth with an implant.
