Porcelain Veneers in South Philadelphia

Few cosmetic treatments can transform a smile as dramatically — or as naturally — as porcelain veneers. Ultra-thin porcelain shells custom-crafted to fit over the front surfaces of the teeth, veneers are the solution of choice for addressing a wide range of aesthetic concerns in a single, elegant treatment. The result is a smile that looks completely natural, genuinely beautiful, and unmistakably yours.

At Pera Dentistry & Aesthetics, Dr. Louis Pera & Dr. Maria Pera, combine their extensive restorative expertise with a meticulous eye for aesthetics to design veneers that complement your facial features and meet your personal vision. Every set of veneers we place is a custom work — not a formula.

Porcelain vs. Composite Veneers

Porcelain Veneers

Fabricated in a dental laboratory from high-quality ceramic, porcelain veneers offer exceptional aesthetics, durability, and stain resistance. They mimic the light-reflecting properties of natural tooth enamel beautifully. With proper care, they can last 15 to 20 years or longer.

Composite Veneers

Made from the same resin material used in tooth-colored fillings, composite veneers are applied directly to the tooth in a single visit and are a more affordable option. They’re less durable and more prone to staining than porcelain but can be a great choice for patients with budget considerations or who want a reversible option to preview their new smile.
Our Process

The Veneer Process

The process typically spans two to three appointments over two to three weeks.

Are You a Candidate for Veneers?

Ideal candidates for veneers have healthy teeth and gums, sufficient enamel for bonding, and realistic expectations about what veneers can achieve. Veneers are not recommended for patients who grind or clench their teeth heavily without first addressing the bruxism, or for teeth that are severely structurally compromised (a crown may be more appropriate in those cases). We’ll assess your candidacy at your consultation.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions About Porcelain Veneers

Are veneers permanent?
Veneers are considered a permanent treatment because the process requires removing a thin layer of enamel from the teeth — this cannot be undone. This is an important consideration and one we discuss thoroughly during consultation. The veneers themselves can be replaced at the end of their lifespan with new ones.
When designed well, porcelain veneers are virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth. The color, translucency, and shape are customized to complement your smile and facial features. We work closely with our dental laboratory to ensure the result is beautiful and natural — not artificially uniform or “too perfect.”
Veneers do not respond to whitening treatments — the color is set during fabrication and doesn’t change. This is why the shade of your veneers is carefully chosen at the planning stage. If you’re also whitening natural teeth, it’s important to whiten them first and match your veneer shade to the desired whitened color.
With proper care, porcelain veneers typically last 15 to 20 years. Avoiding biting hard objects, wearing a night guard if you grind your teeth, and maintaining regular dental visits all contribute to their longevity.
Porcelain veneers placed for cosmetic purposes are not covered by dental insurance. We’ll discuss the investment clearly during your consultation and can provide information on financing options through CareCredit and Sunbit to make your treatment plan achievable.
