Advanced Dental Technology

At Pera Dentistry & Aesthetics, we invest in the most advanced diagnostic and treatment technology available — because better tools mean more accurate diagnoses, fewer surprises, and a more comfortable experience for every patient.

The tools we use define the care you receive

Modern dental technology isn’t about gadgets — it’s about what it means for your appointment. Digital X-rays detect problems earlier with far less radiation. Two industry-leading intraoral scanners — 3Shape and Medit — replace messy impression trays with a fast, precise digital scan. And our SprintRay 3D printing system, complete with professional wash and cure units, means certain restorations can be designed, printed, and delivered in a single visit.

Dr. Salvatore Pera, Dr. Louis Pera, and Dr. Maria Pera have built Pera Dentistry & Aesthetics around a straightforward belief: exceptional care requires exceptional tools. Every piece of technology we use directly improves your experience and your outcome.

Our Technology

Why Technology Matters

Earlier Detection, Better Outcomes

Advanced imaging reveals what the naked eye simply cannot. Digital X-rays detect decay between teeth, bone loss, and structural concerns at the earliest possible stage — before symptoms appear and before small problems become costly ones. Catching issues early means simpler treatment, less chair time, and better long-term results for your oral health.

Precision That Traditional Methods Can't Match

A crown that fits perfectly. An aligner tray built from an exact digital replica of your teeth. A night guard fabricated to your specific bite. This level of accuracy starts with the right tools — intraoral scanners, digital design software, and in-house 3D printing — working together in a seamless workflow. Precision at every step means fewer adjustments, better comfort, and restorations that last.

A More Comfortable Experience at Every Visit

Technology doesn’t just improve clinical outcomes — it improves how dentistry feels. Digital scans replace the gagging discomfort of traditional impression trays. Faster, more efficient procedures mean less time in the chair. And when we can show you exactly what we see on a screen, you leave every appointment informed, confident, and in control of your care.

Our Services

Our Technology Services

Digital X-Rays

Our digital radiography system captures high-resolution images of your teeth and supporting bone instantly — with up to 90% less radiation than traditional film X-rays. Images display chairside in seconds, allowing us to review findings with you in real time and track changes accurately from visit to visit.

3Shape Intraoral Scanner

The 3Shape TRIOS is one of the most widely trusted intraoral scanners in dentistry. Its ultra-fast scanning speed and exceptional accuracy eliminate the need for traditional impression trays entirely. The full-color 3D scan integrates seamlessly with our digital workflow, from crown and veneer design to clear aligner planning.

Medit Intraoral Scanner

Our Medit scanner offers an equally precise digital capture experience with an open-architecture platform — meaning scan data flows effortlessly into a wide range of design and fabrication systems. Having two professional-grade scanners on-hand ensures every patient receives fast, accurate digital impressions with no scheduling delays.

SprintRay 3D Printer

Our SprintRay Pro dental 3D printer brings in-house fabrication to the practice. Using data from our intraoral scanners, we can print surgical guides, diagnostic models, provisional restorations, night guards, and more — with the dimensional accuracy that clinical work demands. What once required days of lab turnaround can often be completed the same day.

SprintRay Wash Unit

After printing, every SprintRay-fabricated appliance moves through our professional wash unit, which removes uncured resin from all surfaces using an automated wash cycle. This step is essential for biocompatibility — ensuring that every printed restoration or appliance that enters your mouth is thoroughly clean, smooth, and safe.

SprintRay Cure Unit

The final step in our in-house 3D printing workflow, the SprintRay cure unit uses precisely calibrated light energy to bring printed resins to their full, final hardness. Proper curing determines the mechanical properties of the finished piece — its strength, color stability, and longevity. Our full print-wash-cure workflow means every appliance that leaves our practice meets the same standard.

Built for precision at every stage of your care

From your first exam to your final restoration, our technology works together to ensure every diagnosis is accurate, every scan is comfortable, and every restoration fits perfectly — often on the same day.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions About our technology and what it means for your care

Are digital X-rays safe?
Yes. Digital X-rays emit up to 90% less radiation than traditional film X-rays and are considered extremely safe for patients of all ages. We also use protective lead aprons as an additional precaution. X-rays remain an essential diagnostic tool — they allow us to detect decay, bone loss, and other conditions that aren’t visible to the eye during a clinical exam.

Both the 3Shape TRIOS and the Medit scanner are industry-leading systems — each with its own strengths. Having both platforms means we can match the right tool to the clinical situation, integrate with the widest range of digital design and fabrication software, and ensure there’s never a bottleneck when multiple patients need digital scans on the same day. For you, it simply means a faster, more reliable experience.

Our SprintRay system can print a wide range of dental appliances and restorations, including provisional crowns and bridges, surgical guides, night guards, diagnostic and study models, orthodontic retainers, and custom trays. By fabricating these in-house, we eliminate the need to send work to an outside lab for many procedures — which means shorter turnaround times and often same-day delivery.

After printing, dental resin appliances contain residual uncured material on their surfaces. Skipping the wash and cure steps would leave the appliance soft, potentially irritating, and not biocompatible for use in the mouth. Our SprintRay wash unit removes the surface resin thoroughly, and the cure unit then uses calibrated light energy to bring the resin to its full, final hardness — ensuring the finished piece has the strength, stability, and safety profile it was designed for.

No — they serve different purposes and work together. Intraoral scanners create a detailed surface model of your teeth and soft tissues, which is used for designing restorations, aligners, and appliances. Digital X-rays reveal what’s beneath the surface — cavities between teeth, bone levels, root anatomy, and other conditions that aren’t visible externally. Both are part of a complete picture of your oral health.

In most clinical situations, yes. Digital intraoral scans eliminate the dimensional distortion that can occur when traditional impression material sets, is removed from the mouth, and is poured into stone models. The digital file is an exact representation of your teeth at the time of scanning, and it’s transmitted instantly to the design software with no handling or shipping risk. The result is restorations that typically fit more precisely with less need for adjustment.
